A Change of Name


A Change of Name

"And it shall be at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call me Ishi;
 and shalt call me no more Baali; 
For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, 
and they shall no more be remembered by their name." 
(Hosea 2:16-17)

That day has come. 
We view our God no more as Baal, our tyrant lord and mighty master, 
for we are not under law but under grace. 
We now think of Jehovah, our God, as our Ishi, our beloved husband, our lord in love, 
our next-of-kin in bonds of sacred relationship. 
We do not serve Him less obediently, but we serve Him for a higher and more endearing reason. 
We no longer tremble under His lash but rejoice in His love. 
The slave is changed into a child and the task into a pleasure.

Is it so with thee, dear reader? 
Has grace cast out slavish fear and implanted filial love? 
How happy are we in such an experience! 
Now we call the Lord's day a delight, and worship is never a weariness. 

Prayer is now a privilege, and praise is a holiday. 
To obey is heaven; to give to the cause of God is a banquet. 
Thus have all things become new. 
Our mouth is filled with singing and our heart with music. 
Blessed be our heavenly Ishi forever and ever.

Looking for Him


Looking for Him


"Unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation." (Hebrews 9:28)

This is our hope. 
He to whom we have already looked as coming once to bear the sins of many will have another manifestation to the sons of men; this is a happy prospect in itself. 
But that second appearing has certain peculiar marks which glorify it exceedingly.

Our Lord will have ended the business of sin. 
He has so taken it away from His people and so effectually borne its penalty that He will have nothing to do with it at His second coming.
 He will present no sin offering, for He will have utterly put sin away.

Our Lord will then complete the salvation of His people. 
They will be finally and perfectly saved and will in every respect enjoy the fullness of that salvation. 
He comes not to bear the result of our transgressions but to bring the result of His obedience; 
not to remove our condemnation but to perfect our salvation.

Our Lord thus appears only to those who look for Him. 
He will not be seen in this character by men whose eyes are blinded with self and sin. 
To them He will be a terrible Judge and nothing more. 
We must first look to Him and then look for Him; and in both cases our look shall be life.

The subject of all our sermons is Jesus, the Anointed One.


2 Corinthians 4:1-5 The Voice (VOICE)
Verse Comments 
Drawing from Exodus 32–34, Paul uses Moses as a model of one who has been transformed by God’s glory, but in a limited way.
 Moses encountered God (the Lord) through the Spirit on that mountain, 
but the Spirit now—as a fulfillment of the new covenant—dwells in the hearts of believers and continually transforms them.
 This transformation is based on a new way of understanding God’s revelation:
 Jesus Himself, the One who reveals God’s glory, is the very image of God. 
Through this Spirit-enabled encounter, believers experience a new way of living and therefore come to resemble the Anointed One as they reflect His glory.

Scripture.

Since we are joined together in this ministry as a result of the mercy shown to all of us by God, 
we do not become discouraged. 
Instead, we have renounced all the things that hide in shame; 
we refuse to live deceptively or use trickery; 
we do not pollute God’s Word with any other agenda. 
Instead, we aim to tell the truth plainly, 
appealing to the conscience of every person under God’s watchful eye. 
Now if our gospel remains veiled, it is only veiled from those who are lost and dying, 
because the evil god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers. 
As a result the light of the good news, the radiant glory of the Anointed—who is the very image of God—cannot shine down on them. 
We do not preach about ourselves. 
The subject of all our sermons is Jesus, the Anointed One. 
He is Lord and Master of all. 
For Jesus’ sake we are here to serve you.

God favor me !


Psalm 84:11 The Voice (VOICE)

You are my shelter, O Eternal One—


Psalm 31:1-3 The Voice (VOICE)

You are my shelter, O Eternal One—my soul’s sanctuary!
    Shield me from shame;
    rescue me by Your righteousness.
Hear me, Lord! Turn Your ear in my direction.
    Come quick! Save me!
Be my rock, my shelter,
    my fortress of salvation!
You are my rock and my fortress—my soul’s sanctuary!
    Therefore, for the sake of Your reputation, be my leader, my guide, my navigator, my commander.
